Shooting in southern Sweden / 1 victim and 2 injured reported

At least one person has been killed after a shooting near a mosque in Sweden, Swedish daily Aftonbladet said on Friday.

Local media say at least one person has been taken to hospital after being shot while leaving Friday prayers at a mosque in Örebro, 200 kilometres west of the capital Stockholm.

It is not clear whether the person who was taken to the hospital is the same person who died. Local police said earlier Friday that two people were injured in the shooting.

The extent of the injuries is unclear, but police say they have opened a preliminary investigation into attempted murder.

The perpetrator has not yet been caught and it is not clear whether they targeted the mosque or specific individuals.

Emergency services are at the scene in large numbers and police have asked the public to stay away. /CNA
