Tourism remains a very good generator of jobs in Spain with 331,500 more workers than in 2021.

This makes tourism the most in-demand industry in the country, as four out of ten new jobs – representing 13 percent of the overall national economy – are found in this industry.

According to Turespana, the Spanish Tourism Institute, employment in the country exceeded 2.6 million workers in June, marking the second highest level in the country's history, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

According to subsidiaries related to tourism activities, 2.6 million of them were registered in June alone, representing a year-on-year increase of 14.5 percent and the creation of 331,555 new jobs.

Additionally, employment rates increased across all tourism branches, with the hotel industry gaining 238,422 workers – 62.9 percent or 149,995 of those engaged in food and beverage services and the remaining 88,427 in accommodation services .

Further, Spain's Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism revealed that the number of international arrivals reached about 85.5 percent of 2019 levels in June alone. Also, the number of international passengers has increased by three times compared to the arrivals registered at the same time last year. /CNA.al
