US lawmakers visit Kiev, pledge continued support

A US congressional delegation met Saturday in Kiev with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They promised continued support in this country's fight against Russia.

The chairman of the Armed Services Committee in the House of Representatives, Adam Smith, was part of the American delegation. This marks the latest visit to Ukraine by high-level American officials.

"Shtetet e Bashkuara, së bashku me aleatët dhe partnerët tanë në mbarë botën, kanë qëndruar krah Ukrainës duke ofruar ndihmë ekonomike, ushtarake dhe humanitare", thuhej në një deklaratë të delegacionit amerikan.

"Ne do të vazhdojmë të mbështesim Presidentin Zelenskyy dhe popullin ukrainas në mënyrën më efektive të mundshme, ndërsa ata vijojnë me qëndresën e tyre të guximshme", shtuan ata.

Të mërkurën sekretari amerikan i Mbrojtjes Lloyd Austin tha se Uashingtoni do të dërgojë katër sisteme të tjera raketash me lëvizshmërisë së lartë në Ukrainë, duke e çuar në 16 totalin e sistemeve të këtij lloji që i janë dërguar Kievit. Por në deklaratën e ligjvënësve amerikanë nuk përmendej një gjë e tillë.
