Fierce fighting/ The Israeli army surrounds Gaza, Hamas hits Jerusalem with rockets

Israel's Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, has declared that he has ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip, where the entire area will be without electricity, without food supplies and without fuel. 

Israel controls the airspace over Gaza and its coastline, and restricts who and what goods are allowed to enter and exit through its border crossings.

Similarly, Egypt controls who crosses in and out of its border with Gaza.

Meanwhile, Hamas is not sitting idly by. The Israel Defense Forces report that air raid sirens are now sounding in Jerusalem and across Israel as rockets are fired from Gaza.

At least three explosions were heard in Jerusalem. It is not yet clear whether these are rockets that land, or were intercepted by Israeli defenses./ CNA
