Kurti: Investments in armaments have increased by 191%

Kosovo has increased investments in armaments by 191% during the government of Albin Kurti.

These figures were announced by Kurti himself, who announced on social networks that in 2 and a half years the budget for the Security Force has doubled.

He declares through a status on social networks that about 2000 new soldiers have also been recruited.

"Two and a half years of attention and investment for the army.

The Ministry of Defense was allocated a 100 million euro budget for the first time in 2021. Since then, the minimum is that much, while the ceiling keeps rising. For 2023, the budget for the army is 141 million euros, more than doubling compared to the time when we took over the government.

We recruited 1,852 new soldiers, increasing the total number of soldiers by more than 2/3. Our army today is more professional and better prepared because during this period, 3325 soldiers have completed professional training abroad. They are better equipped than ever before, because investments in armaments have increased by 191%. We added the well-known Bayraktar combat drones to our military arsenal," he writes.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister of Kosovo mentions the agreements signed with other countries.

"We removed the limitation in the number of the Kosovo Security Force and opened it to every young man and woman up to the age of 25, while we made the subject "Security Education" part of the school curricula for upper secondary students .

In 2021, the Kosovo Security Force co-landed with the US military in its first peacekeeping mission in Kuwait. To then continue a year later with the co-landing mission with the British army in the Falkland Islands. However, at the beginning of this year, it proved to the world its preparations and skills in search and rescue missions when it saved four lives in Turkey from the ruins of the devastating earthquake there.

Through the signed cooperation agreements with the United Kingdom, Albania, Latvia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Croatia, during these two and a half years of government, and many others that are nearing finalization, we have further deepened the relations with our partners strategic. And in Defender Europe 21 and 23 we lined up side by side with our allies in the largest undertaking of military exercises on the European continent since the end of World War II.

With the Security Force, safely in defense of the Republic", underlines Kurti./ CNA
