One of the most beautiful beaches in the world and undoubtedly the most famous in Greece will remain closed to visitors this season as well. It is Navagio Beach in Zakynthos that tourists will be able to see, but only from a safe distance from the sea.
Namely, a joint decision of four ministries has been published in the official Greek newspaper, extending the ban on access to Navajo Beach in Zakynthos this year - both by sea and by land.
As stated in the decision, the prohibitions that were in force last year will continue in the new summer season due to the risk of landslides, which according to Greek experts could cause an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5.
As for the plateau above the beach, visitor access is also prohibited within 10 meters of the edge of the slope.
It is a beach with a very steep slope, about 110 meters, so sometimes rock masses fall from the slope. The decision is valid until October 31, 2024, after which further measures will be considered.
It is recalled that on September 13, 2018, seven people were injured by a landslide in Navajo Beach, three of whom were taken to a local hospital. /CNA
