The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has responded against the statements of Gabriel Escobar, who was decisive in relation to the request for the formation of the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian majority in the north of Kosovo.

Kurti said that despite the challenges with the EU and US envoys, relations with the European Union and the United States of America are excellent.

"I have been constructive, dedicated, creative and I am all of these, but I do not think that these things are resolved with pressure and mentioning consequences, maybe even sanctions of the most democratic and progressive state in the Western Balkans. I am confident that we will be able to clarify the ambiguities. We have challenges with the European and American emissaries, but our bilateral relations with the EU and the USA are excellent", said Kurti.

Kurti's statement comes after Escobar's statement that the "disagreements" they have with Prime Minister Kurti do not affect the relations between the peoples.

"I hope that people understand that whatever difficulties we have with Prime Minister Kurti do not affect this sentiment. But we have some challenges in bilateral relations while we are dealing with Prime Minister Kurti. I want to be very honest, the USA has been your biggest supporter and it hurts me to see that people think that somehow we are leading our relationship with Kosovo for the benefit of Serbia".

During the meeting on June 5 in Prishtina with Escobar and Lajcak, Kurti said that he offered a "stable and safe exit" from the crisis in the north, which, according to him, was caused "by the illegal and parallel structures of Serbia there". CNA.al
