Moscow mayor: Ukraine carried out one of the biggest attacks on the Russian

Ukrainian drones have targeted Moscow in one of the largest attacks of its kind on the Russian capital, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

Through a post on "Telegram", he said that in the early hours of August 21, Russian air defense shot down ten drones.

"This is one of the largest ever attempts to attack Moscow with drones," Sobyanin wrote, adding that no casualties or property damage were reported.

Separately, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that air defense systems have shot down 45 Ukrainian drones.

"Eleven drones were shot down over Moscow region, 23 over Bryansk region, six over Belgorod, three over Kaluga region and two over Kursk region," the announcement said.

This announcement could not be independently confirmed, while Ukraine has not commented on these reports.

In recent months, Kiev - which is facing an invasion launched by Moscow in February 2022 - has intensified airstrikes on Russian territory. Meanwhile, on August 6, Ukrainian troops launched a surprise incursion into the Russian region of Kursk./ REL
