Attack with 12 victims in Sydney/ Netanyahu harshly accuses Australian

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reacted with harsh accusations against the Australian government over the terrorist attack that killed 12 people, including the perpetrator, on Sydney's Bondi Beach during a Hanukkah celebration. According to reports, an Israeli citizen was among the victims of the attack.

Netanyahu noted in a speech that he had sent a letter to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in August, telling him that the Australian government's policies were promoting and encouraging anti-Semitism in Australia.

“I wrote: ‘Your call for a Palestinian state fuels the fire of anti-Semitism. It rewards Hamas terrorists. It emboldens those who threaten Australian Jews and encourages the hatred of Jews that now pervades your streets,’” Netanyahu said.

The Israeli prime minister continued with the accusations, saying that the Albanian government is doing nothing to stop the spread of anti-Semitism in Australia.

"You let the disease spread and the result is the horrific attacks on Jews that we saw today ," he added.

The incident that occurred today was described as the most serious in a series of anti-Semitic attacks on synagogues and buildings in Australia since the start of Israel's war in Gaza in October 2023. Recall that Australia announced on August 11 that it would recognize the Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly in September, a move that followed similar announcements by France, Britain and Canada. /CNA
