Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared that Turkish intelligence forces in Syria eliminated the leader of the Islamic State, Abu Hussein al-Qurashi.
"Turkey's National Intelligence Service followed the leader of the Islamic State, Abu Hussein al-Qurashi, for a long time.
He was eliminated in a special operation carried out by Turkish intelligence in Syria," Erdogan said on state television, Anadolia.
Al-Qurashi took over the leadership of the Islamic State after the death of the previous leader, Abu al-Hasan.
