Banjska Monastery

The situation in the Banjska Monastery, where the aggressors were holed up, has calmed down.

This has been confirmed by the Diocese of Raskë-Prizren, which in a statement says that the armed men have left the monastery.

The Diocese announces that the forces of the Kosovo Police and EULEX have gone to the outer premises of the monastery.

"The Diocese of Raskë-Prizren informs the public that the situation in the Banjska Monastery is currently calm, although fear is still felt from today's events both in the surroundings and at the gate of the monastery itself. The armed persons who broke in today have left the monastery and currently the presence of the Kosovo Police and EULEX has been observed in front of the entrance gate and in the courtyard of the monastery", the announcement states.

Also, the Rashkë-Prizren Diocese emphasizes that all the people in the monastery are in good health, despite the fear of police clashes with the aggressors.

"In the dormitory of the monastery there is still the abbot with his brothers, as well as a group of believers from Novi Sad, including two minor children. The Directorate of the Monastery announces that everyone is fine for now", it is underlined in the statement./ CNA
