The President of the United States, Joe Biden, in a letter addressed to the Democrats of the Congress, spoke against the calls for him to give up the race for re-election.

Biden also asked for an end to the "internal party drama", which has involved the Democrats since his poor performance in the debate with the Republican opponent, Donald Trump.

In the two-page letter, Biden said the party has "one job" and that is to defeat Trump in the November presidential election.

"We have 42 days until the Democratic Convention and 119 days until the general elections."

"Any weakening of resolve or lack of clarity about the task at hand only helps Trump and hurts us. It's time to come together, move forward as a united party and defeat Donald Trump," Biden said.

Biden admitted that he did not perform well in the debate with Trump on June 27, but said that Trump's re-election "would destroy democracy".

In that debate, Biden stuttered throughout and failed to challenge Trump's attacks, which, in many cases, included false claims.
