This year, 55% of Kosovo's citizens will go on vacation with money from debt and borrowing sources. However, 43% do not have this opportunity for vacations even though they need it.
The Kosovar Alliance of Businesses has done a research about summer vacations. According to this research, about 57 percent of Kosovo's citizens will go on summer vacation, while 24 percent have not planned such a vacation.
"This study shows that 57% of Kosovo's citizens will go on summer vacation, 24% don't even have summer vacation in their plans, 13% maybe, while 6% don't have any answer."
However, a large percentage have shown that they will get the money for vacations in loans.
"In the next question, where will they get the money for vacation, it turns out that 40% from savings, 30% from loans, 25% from loans, 5% have not answered". .
The chairman of AKB, Agim Shahini, said that from this we can conclude that only 57% of Kosovo's citizens have the opportunity to go on vacation.
"...while 43% do not have this opportunity for vacations even though they need it, while of the 57% who have this opportunity, 55% of them go with the money from debt sources and loans. In the following days, the second part will be published about where Kosovars are going on vacation in Summer 2024 and how much money they will spend."
A few days ago, the head of the Tourism Association in Kosovo, Ruzhdi Kurtishaj, said that many tourists from Kosovo are leaving Albania to visit Greece or Bulgaria.
According to him, the main factor is the liberalization of visas for Kosovo Albanians. However, Kurtishaj says that many vacationers from Kosovo do not consider a 40% increase in prices reasonable.
"The year 2024 has hinted that there is no sustainable tourism for some areas of Albania without Kosovar Albanians and visa liberalization has made a difference from 2023. For two decades we have been isolated from the world for the possibility of free movement . It was good luck that the liberalization took place in January and many Kosovar Albanians fulfilled their dream to visit the countries of the region such as Greece because many of us spent 20 years ago in Greece and Bulgaria and I think that this lack of vacationers in Kosovo is not without reason"
He has shown that there is a large decrease in vacationers due to the increase in prices.
"According to the statistics, there is an obvious decrease in vacationers and the increase in prices is one of the main reasons, of course, finding alternative beaches like Greece and Bulgaria could be another reason why there are no tourists from Kosovo. However, I don't understand why I have to pay for a drink that costs 200 Lek in Durrës and 700 Lek in the south"./ Monitor Magazine
