NATO Summit, Stoltenberg: Support for Ukraine is in the interest of security

The US will increase its military arsenal to protect NATO partners in Europe. Long-range weapons will be stationed in Germany.
Starting in 2026, the US will temporarily station Tomahawk missiles and other long-range weapons in Germany. This was announced in a joint statement of the USA and Germany, which was published within the framework of the NATO summit in Washington. These conventional weapons have a "much, much greater range than the current land-based systems in Europe," the statement said.
Tomahawks can hit targets at a range of over 2,000 kilometers.
The deployment of these weapons is scheduled to begin about a year after the US presidential election, which will take place next November. Therefore, the decision can be canceled if Republican Donald Trump wins the election.
During his term in office (2017 to 2021), Trump initiated a reduction in the US military presence in Germany, which was later halted when current President Joe Biden came to power. Even since the Russian attack on Ukraine, Biden has increased the presence of American troops in Germany and Europe./DW
