Since February 10, when Mayor Erion Veliaj was arrested in his office at the Municipality of Tirana, on charges of corruption and money laundering, there has been a brutal attack on prosecutors and judges, both by the administrations ordered by him and by the country's Prime Minister, Edi Rama, who until this moment refused to react to the arrests of SP officials and expressed support for justice.

Rama has come out speaking in threatening language towards the prosecutor and judge in the Veliaj case, exerting pressure and blackmail.

But what happens is that there is a criminal silence from Albania's partners.

The US Embassy, ??the EU, the British Embassy, ??Albania's partners, the countries that have invested in the Justice Reform, as soon as the arrests for corruption occurred, Berisha's attacks on SPAK, Ilir Meta's attacks on SPAK reacted, demanding that justice be allowed to do its job, the Prime Minister was on their side, but what happened?

With the arrest of Erion Veliaj, international institutions and diplomats are silent, and on the other hand, our prime minister has gone "crazy" and is no longer asking questions.

The man who used to say "Long live the Reform" now says "Down with the Reform" because they took away his thief who was caught with facts, evidence, and documents.

Everything is proven.

But what is more important is the reaction of the international community, their silence, because Albania is being harmed.

It is being damaged in its steps towards the EU and the chapters opened in discussions with the EU. The Prime Minister's attack on justice is an ugly political act, it is not a European standard.

The silence of the US embassy is another bad sign because someone must stop our out-of-control prime minister from blackmailing, pressuring, and threatening judges and prosecutors with the ultimate goal of seeking the release of a power thief, nothing more than that./ CNA
