By Elvi Fundo/ Premature feelings for Erion Veliaj

The arrest of Erion Veliaj was the first news given today on CNA, long before other media reported it, the news was confirmed, it was being delayed.  The media of the controlled political system wanted to pass it by in silence. Initially they denied it as always. Then they said he was under house arrest and in the end a prison arrest was issued.

In fact, in those first moments my phone didn't stop ringing. Everyone wanted to confirm the news through me. As if I was one of the officers who had arrested Erion Veliaj. Everything was completely coincidental.

At the moment Erion Veliaj was escorted by BKH officers, one of my sources was near the Tirana Municipality on the street passing by and saw him like many other citizens, but the only difference was that my source knew the officers and the others did not.

Also, another source from the justice system said that the court's decision had been issued. Everything was confirmed by two sources and the news was published.

But what was more important were the phone calls, the apologies that came from those people with whom I had been fighting for SPAK for months, who were saying whether or not Erion Veliaj would be arrested before the elections, or worse yet they would never arrest him, or worse yet it was formal, or even worse yet they were making fun of Albanians, but in fact SPAK, prosecutor Ols Dado, the head of the prosecution, Altin Dumani, have done an excellent, spectacular job, to be congratulated and supported, while the media and many politicians or people of public opinion had chosen blackmail, threats, the path of mud, insults and curses against prosecutors and BKH officers who were conducting an investigation into a file that was in fact explosive, a real volcano.

In almost a year, most of the affairs of the mayor of Tirana, who was mired in the mire of corruption, were unraveled.

Now everyone can rub their bellies, they will also take up the sword, journalists, analysts and opinion makers. They will say that they were the ones who did it, it was him, that the investigation is like this, that Erion is not guilty, etc. They will attack SPAK and, to put it more popularly, "mess with jixilera".

But the most beautiful thing today are the constant phone calls, not only to confirm the news, but also to apologize.

In a public debate with Armand Shkullak, he used arrogant, perhaps even insulting language towards me only because I told him that the arrest could be before the elections and that the prosecutors were working spectacularly, as I had noticed the actions they were taking in public institutions that I or CNA itself had denounced.

With the arrogance of the counter and the very mouth of the opposition, it is more shameful to be arrogant in opposition than when you are in power, but the apology on the phone was very good, although he didn't have the courage to call.

On the other hand, apologies also came from Sokol Nako, who is one of the most brilliant lawyers in our country and who was often both close and far from my beliefs, in the sense that he did not believe that there could be justice that would put Erion Veliaj in prison.

Or others like Ditmir Bushati who perhaps believe that the arrest of Erion Veliaj is a blow to the left or other leftists who are happy with Veliaj's arrest and see this as hope, yes, and media farces of the kind that we will hear about today, arrested because that famous American of Trump's came.

When in fact, Veliaj's arrest does nothing more or less than throw more fuel on Erion Veliaj's fire.

The only happy person today will be Belind Këlliçi in his battle beyond the sympathy of others, because the latter will be saved from weekly protests and a colossal job to be greeted together with a group of opposition experts who have waged a spectacular battle that in the end unfortunately lost trust in SPAK, but who today should not only be happy, but should be very proud of their work and for breaking a taboo in the history of politics and justice in Albania./ CNA
