Murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja/Begaj: I condemn the terrible attack

President Bajram Begaj has reacted to the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja inside the Court of Appeals in Tirana. In his reaction, Begaj condemns the murder of the judge while on duty.

He added that society should condemn this act, which he described as a macabre assassination. Begaj expressed condolences to the judge's family and colleagues for his loss.

I am deeply shocked and condemn in the strongest possible terms the intolerable act of murder in the line of duty of Judge Astrit Kalaja.

This terrible attack on the distinguished judge, but also on justice as such, must be faced by the entire society with the deepest contempt and disagreement, because this act is a macabre assassination attempt on the very system, on which coexistence and social peace are founded.

On behalf of the state, I stand with the family of the deceased and his colleagues, both near and far, and express the full solidarity of Albanians with the boundless pain of loss.
