Veliaj, pressure on the Supreme Court

It seems absurd, but it happens. The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, arrested on 13 charges for 5 serious criminal offenses, has sent a request to the High Court this Wednesday requesting the acceleration of the retrial process, after the Constitutional Court ordered the High Court to document the reasons why Erion Veliaj should remain in prison.

Veliaj says that the delay in the retrial process has consequences for the exercise of his duties as mayor.

In fact, this is pressure on the Supreme Court because it uses a legal argument that does not exist. So the law does not recognize this type of acceleration that Erion Veliaj and the other SPAK defendant Plarent Ndreca are requesting in the Supreme Court.

Veliaj emphasizes in his request that the Supreme Court should not delay the positive decision it will give, because then he cannot go to the office.

This is clearly pressure on the Supreme Court to release him, how does Erion Veliaj know that the decision will be positive, when he makes a request without legal basis?!

The Supreme Court has all the facts and evidence, and has expressed several times in its decisions why Erjon Veliaj should remain in prison and nothing more than that.

Now I have to write it down, explain it, and argue it to show the "fantastic four" of the Constitutional Court why Erion Veliaj is in prison.

Veliaj has not attended any court session at the GJKKO, to face the facts and evidence written in black and white on over 60 thousand pages, materials that Erion Veliaj has obtained in all ways, by USB and in writing.

Like a coward, from the depths of his prison cell in Durrës he prepares scenarios of attacks on justice, prosecutors and judges, as revealed in the wiretaps published by CNA, as seen in the media paid for by him and his brother, in reports for which he lobbied with hundreds of thousands of dollars to attack justice, SPAK, prosecutors and judges, Erion Veliaj has decided not to stand trial.

Before each session in the Special Court, he uses various strategies and alibis to delay court proceedings. CNA has shown through articles the techniques that Veliaj has used to delay trials, starting from illnesses, changing lawyers, births, the glass cage, etc.

Veliaj's defense strategy has been diverse and systematic with endless schemes and scenarios, but in fact they show that delaying the process is a strategy, perhaps even fear, since Veliaj and his lawyers know well what evidence they have in the file.

Now they are inventing illegal demands, but justice is not propaganda, nor are the letters that defendant Plarent Ndreca writes to be paid handsomely./ CNA
