CNA has obtained the unsealed decision of the Appeals Judge of the Kosovo Court of Appeals, Engert Pëllumbi, for Mayor Erion Veliaj.

The Second Instance of the Special Court, among other things, has also highlighted the behavior of Mayor Veliaj, where from the detention center of Durrës, through social networks, he insulted and threatened the prosecutor of the case, Ols Dado, as well as the judge of the case in the First Instance, Erjon Bani . The decision emphasizes that in some of Erion Veliaj's posts there were statuses with threatening content towards these officials.

On page 104 of the file, Judge Pëllumbi also refers to a CNA article, which highlighted the lynching language used by Mayor Veliaj towards Prosecutor Dado and Judge Bani .

"From the minutes for the examination and receipt of data from open sources (the internet), dated 01.03.2023, kept by the investigator of the National Bureau of Investigation, initially a post is reflected on the Facebook page of the person under investigation Erion Veliaj, dated the same date, where he makes accusations about the process initiated against him. It then follows with a post where this person under investigation uses ironic expressions towards prosecutor Ols Dado. It continues with the post dated 28.02.2025, in which the person under investigation Erion Veliaj uses offensive expressions towards prosecutor Ols Dado and judge Erjon Bani.

Next follows an article published in the online media CNA, entitled "From insult to threat for Dado and Bani", where the person under investigation Erion Veliaj, in a post dated 10.02.2025, uses insulting expressions against prosecutor Ols Dado. Next follows a post dated 11.02.2025, where the person under investigation Erion Veliaj uses insulting expressions against prosecutor Ols Dado. Then the posts follow on 19, 21, 22 and 23 February 2025, where the person under investigation Erion Veliaj continues the insult but in one case also a threat against prosecutor Ols Dado", it is stated, among other things, in the declassified file, where the judge refers to CNA.

The news in question is dated February 23, 2025 : “ From insults to threats against Dado and Bani/ Veliaj aggravates his criminal situation ”. This news was published on the cna.al website as well as on CNA TV . In this material, CNA journalists have monitored all the statuses published at that time by Veliaj, who day after day insulted and threatened prosecutor Dado and judge Bani.

The CNA material showed that Erion Veliaj had made dozens of posts, openly attacking prosecutors and judges. The article emphasized that he was making these threats from prison to justice officials, while in this way he was attempting to destroy evidence and intimidate witnesses.

This conclusion seems to have also been reached by the Appeals Judge, Engert Pëllumbi, who decided to leave Veliaj in prison custody , arguing, among other things, that the mayor, due to the power he has, could intimidate witnesses and destroy evidence, jeopardizing the investigation./ CNA
