The Belgian studio "51N4E", which was declared the winner for the stadium project of the city of Durrës "Niko Dovana", will now be responsible for a new contract.

The Albanian Development Fund announced that through a negotiation procedure without prior announcement, it recognized the same studio as the winner for the contract: "Master plan of the sports complex of the stadium "Niko Dovana" and the development of the multifunctional area around the stadium complex, Durrës".

ADF, after negotiation, has agreed on the offer of 36.8 million ALL or about 344 thousand euros.

The Fund itself announced that "the union of operators "51N4E" Branch of the foreign company and "Plan Comun, registered in France" were the winners of the contract and within 6 months they must complete the project of the master plan in question.

The Albanian Development Fund has been designated as the contracting authority for the stadium projects, which also means that the same institution is competent for the master plan.

The new stadium in Durrës

In February of this year, the international competition for stadium projects was opened in the cities of Vlora, Korça and Durrës. In May, the winning project for the "Niko Dovana" stadium in Durrës was also announced. The 51N4E project brings the concept of the stadium as an integrated part of the city where community life is intertwined not only with the city but also with the activities and sports that the new stadium will offer.

During the explanation of the project at the time, the representative of the company underlined that it was intended to build green spaces and turn the stadium into a place and training park.

"Youth training and training should be done and the children should not go to another country to train pro, do it in their city in front of the stadium.

We aim for the stadium to be active 7 days a week, where people can walk around the area and create pedestrian walkways to connect with the city and be surrounded by green parks," said the representative of the studio.

Referring to the stadium project, there will be basketball and football training fields, two swimming pools, one outdoor and one indoor. It will be below ground level so that the city is an inclusive part of the panorama when entering the stadium.

It is planned to build cultural and sports centers, hotels, offices and shopping centers around the stadium. Likewise, the Convention and National Film Festival Development Center will be built./ Monitor Magazine
