SPAK asked for 2 and a half years in prison/ The decision for Fredi Beleri is given today

The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime is expected to make a decision on Fredi Beleri today.

SPAK has demanded 2 years and 6 months in prison for the elected mayor of Himara.

He also requested 2 years in prison for his friend Pandeli Kokaveshi.

Fredi Beleri was arrested on May 12, 2023 and is accused of buying votes in the May 14 local elections. The "prison arrest" measure has been opposed several times by his lawyers. 

For the arrest of Beler, there were many reactions even from official Athens, which has stated that it will veto Albania's path to the EU. 

Regarding this issue, Prime Minister Edi Rama has stated that there is no political connection, but it is in the hands of justice./  CNA
