Diploma fraud scheme/ Ministry of Education: We have found a violation

The Ministry of Education and Sports has reacted in relation to the diploma fraud scheme in which the Non-Public Institution of Higher Education WISDOM University College was involved.

In response, it is emphasized that violations on the part of the university have been identified.

The reaction of the Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education and Sports, regarding the Non-Public Institution of Higher Education WISDOM University College and its activity in Albania, informs that:

The Ministry of Education and Sports, based on the by-laws in force, of Law No. 80/2015 "On Higher Education and Scientific Research in Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Albania" has started from 2022 onwards, the periodic process of verification of compliance control of the activity of all institutions of higher education.

Following this process, for the period 2023-2024, MAS, based on the legal provisions in force, through the working group set up for this purpose, with representatives of the responsible structures of the ministry, the Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education and the Center of Educational Services, has started the verification of compliance with the legal and by-laws in force of WISDOM University College.

After the procedures followed within this process, and the verifications carried out throughout the control period in this institution, at the end of it, the working group, in July of this year, completed the final control report, finding legal violations, during exercise of the academic, administrative and financial activity of WISDOM University College for the period of exercise of control, referring to the provisions of law no. 80/2015, "On higher education and scientific research in higher education institutions in the Republic of Albania" and by-laws in its implementation.

Based on the recommendations of the control group, the legal procedure is being followed in connection with the closure of the academic activity of the non-public higher education institution WISDOM University College.

We underline that in the meantime, the Ministry of Education and Sports, for the new academic year 2024-2025, has not certified admission quotas for WISDOM University College.

So the Ministry of Education and Sports has followed not only with attention, but also with concrete steps of legal measures the anomalies brought out by the inspections, ensuring the protection of students based on the legal provisions in force.
