Jet Bank Scandal/ DP MPs, Gent Sejko's request: We want transparency

DP MP Belind Këlliçiu has stated that the Democratic Party MPs of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Finance and that of Civic Initiatives and Institutional Oversight have signed a request to the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, requesting an exhaustive response, in full compliance with the law and the obligation to provide transparency regarding the licensing of Jet Bank.

Këlliçi emphasizes that this transparency request is only the first step in fulfilling our duty as members of the Albanian Parliament.

He warned that further legal steps will follow if they do not receive answers about Jet Bank and the shadows of suspicion surrounding the establishment of this so-called digital bank.

"Today, the Democratic Party deputies of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Finance and that of Civic Initiatives and Institutional Oversight, concerned about the lack of transparency and other damaging facts, which are reported in the media, regarding the licensing of the first digital bank in the country "Jet Bank", have signed a joint request to the Governor of the Bank of Albania, requesting an exhaustive response, in full compliance with the law and the obligation to provide transparency for such an important sector.

Licensing a digital bank is a fairly new practice, often problematic even for the European Union. Cybersecurity, the reputation of shareholders and managers, the issue of money laundering, and the security of creditors are very worrying and current issues in the EU as well.

In Albania, these issues are much more heated and much more problematic. Because in Albania, cybersecurity is virtually non-existent, money laundering is rampant, and the facts show that at least one of the individuals involved in this affair has a severely damaged and deeply compromising reputation.

We assure public opinion that this transparency request is only the first step in fulfilling our duty as members of the Albanian Parliament.

Other legal steps will follow, because the implementation of the law and the financial security of Albanians is an absolute priority for us! ", writes Këlliçi./ CNA
