Critical situation in the Drini cascade/ High water levels due to intense

The synoptic situation in the country is not expected to improve either today or in the coming days, keeping rainfall active and significantly increasing water flows in the Drin River cascade.

According to official data, natural flows in the cascade are currently at high levels, specifically around 2,300 m³/sec at the Fierzë HPP, 1,150 m³/sec at the Koman HPP and 400 m³/sec at the Vau i Dejës HPP, bringing the total to around 3,850 m³/sec.

Meanwhile, the lake levels are as follows: Fierza at 285 meters, Koman at 174.13 meters and Vau i Dejës at 75 meters.

Regarding discharges, Fierza HPP currently does not discharge, Koman HPP discharges 1,200 m³/sec, while Vau i Dejës HPP discharges 1,600 m³/sec. The final discharges at Vau i Dejës are 1,600 m³/sec, while the total volume accumulation in the cascade is estimated at around 2,250 m³/sec, mainly in Lake Fierza.

The daily production of electricity from the Drini cascade is estimated at around 12,130 MWh.

The Albanian Power Corporation announces that it is continuously monitoring the water situation, guaranteeing safe and efficient management of water resources, in order to ensure security and energy production. /CNA
