The Ministry of Defense has updated data on the fire situation in Albania.

Over 10,000 emergency forces, under the coordination of the Civil Protection Agency, are on the ground and the situation is moving towards stabilization. Three helicopters are also operating from the air in Gramsh and two others in Delvina.

The situation in the most problematic areas:

In Delvina, the fire that broke out from Syri i Kaltër has engulfed the villages of Pecë, Sirakat and Kardhikaq, reaching close to the municipality's border. The flames spread from Vllahati towards Kakodhiq, causing the burning of 5 houses, 4 of which were uninhabited.

36 firefighters with 5 vehicles, 120 AF troops, FNSH, Delta, Shqiponjat forces, local and municipal police, as well as 7 water tankers have been engaged in the operations. The fire has moved over the village of Vllahat, where it is being intervened from the air with Czech and Slovak helicopters.

Elbasan District – Gramsh Municipality

In Kullollas and the Skënderbegas unit, the fire has reached large proportions, involving several villages and causing one victim. Damage to homes has been reported. The situation remains serious and air intervention is being carried out. In Mukaj and Sojnik, the fire continues in areas with bushes and thorns, with local forces and the Armed Forces on the ground.

Gjirokaster District – Tepelena Municipality

In Hormovo, the danger to homes has been averted, but the work of extinguishing the fire continues. In Turan, the flames have spread towards Lekel and Koder, burning two stables and animals. Firefighters, police, municipal, volunteer and military forces, as well as Czech and Slovak helicopters, have operated on the ground.

Shkodra Region – Municipality of Fushe Arrëz

In Xeth, a fire is burning in an area with pine trees. Numerous forces from the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Environment, the police and the forestry service have been deployed. The situation appears calmer, but work continues to completely isolate it.

Tirana District

In the Bërzhitë mountain and the village of Durishtë, the fire was kept under control with air and ground intervention. In the Arbanë area (Damjan e Isufaj), the flames reached large proportions and were intervened with a Croatian helicopter. In Ferraj and Zall-Herr, the fires are being monitored, while in Kryevidh of Rrogozhina, about 100 ha and two uninhabited houses have burned.

Dibër District

On the Gropa mountain, Biz i Martanesh, the fire continues in a protected area, away from homes. In Ternovo, the operation continues with local and Armed Forces forces.

Korça District – Kolonjë Municipality

In Germenj, the fire in the pine forests is developing in difficult terrain, with ammunition explosions in the perimeter of the flames. Direct intervention is difficult and is being kept under surveillance.

Work is continuing in the meantime in the hearths, where there is no danger to homes or livestock.

Weather forecast and fire risk

According to meteorological data, the country is expected to face high temperatures and strong winds in the midday hours, which increases the risk of reactivation and spread of existing fires, as well as the creation of new fires. Authorities call on citizens to avoid any actions that could cause fires and to immediately report any new fires./ CNA
