Today, the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, will appear before the Special Court to request his freedom.

The leader of the PL has been in prison for 10 months, while SPAK announced the charges only a few days ago.

In fact, Meta's request is closely related to the case of Mayor Erion Veliaj, as the allegations are that if the court releases Meta, it could also release the arrested mayor of Tirana.

Veliaj has been in prison since February 10 and faces 13 charges for several serious criminal offenses.

The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, in a statement to journalists a few days ago confirmed that Veliaj's file has been divided into factions as he is also suspected of other criminal offenses.

SPAK has not yet conducted a full asset vetting of Veliaj, which would actually be the right thing to do and would reveal much more than we have seen so far.
