Profile/ Rama's three new appointments in important ministries

During the SP congress, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced the changes in the government.

Rama appointed three new ministers, Petrit Malaj to the Ministry of Finance, Ervin Hoxha to the Ministry of the Interior and Pirro Vëngu to the Ministry of Defense.

Rama dismissed Taulant Balla after one year in office, dismissed Niko Pelesh and Ervin Mete.

Profile who are the three new government ministers?

Pirro Vëngu

Pirro Vëngu is the director of the Port Authority of Durrës.

Vëngu has held important positions during the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama. He was also the director of Anticorruption in the Prime Minister.

Likewise, Vëngu previously held the position of chief of staff in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was once headed by Ditmir Bushati.

Petrit Malaj

Petrit Malaj currently holds the position of director of AKBN.

Malaj graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Tirana, pursued his Master's studies in "Business Administration" at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in the USA, qualified for "Banking and Finance" at Georgetown University, USA, and then attended a qualification program for Capital Market Management, of the Federal Ministry for Cooperation and Development of Germany.

He has a rich work experience in the banking system in Albania and then he was engaged as an Executive Director in the company "BDO Albania", part of BDO International, the fifth largest group in the world in the field of Financial Consulting, Audit and Taxes.

Ervin Hoxha

Ervin Hoxha is an officer who graduated from the German Police Academy. He worked as the director of IKMT, while he directed many other sectors. For more than 20 years, he has served in various functions from the executive level to the highest management levels in central and law-enforcement institutions of the Albanian state, such as: Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, State Police, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of of Justice.

Ervin Hoxha was born in Tirana on 13.10.1978. He completed his 4-year secondary education at the Non-Commissioned Officer Training Technical School (Teknik Astsubay Hazirlama Okulu) in Balikesir, Turkey. He then attended the Higher Security Academy (Offizier Schule des Herres) in Dresden, Germany. In 2006, he completed the university cycle at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Tirana.

He successfully completed his postgraduate education at the German Police College (Deutsche Hochschule der Polizei), earning an MA in Public Administration and Police Management.

He attended certified trainings at the high level of leadership and management in the field of security and law enforcement in the USA, Austria, Germany, etc.

For more than 20 years, he has served in various functions from the executive level to the highest management levels in central and law-enforcement institutions of the Albanian state, such as:

Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, State Police, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Justice.

He has successfully performed high-level tasks at the management level, such as: Director of International Relations, Head of the Europol National Unit, Head of the Interpol National Central Office, Director of the Traffic Police, Director of the Directorate for the Protection of Witnesses and Associates of Justice, Director of Investigation Tax and Money Laundering, Deputy. General Director of the Social Insurance Institute, as well as Cabinet Director and Advisor to several senior officials of the Albanian state. On 26.01.2022, he was appointed General Director of the Probation Service with VKM no. 57
