"You are running afoul of justice"/ Aulon Kalaja: The sixth trial

Former Democratic Party candidate for MP, Aulon Kalaja, stated today that the sixth trial session that Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj initiated against him has also failed.

Kalaja says in his reaction that Veliaj not only did not appear in person, but ordered that his lawyer not be present at today's session either.

He further says that the mayor, although he has opened a trial against him, is "trampling" on justice. Kalaja informs that the court has scheduled the next session for January 26, at 1:30 PM, and announces that if the plaintiff does not appear, a lawyer has been assigned to defend Veliaj.

The sixth trial session that Mayor Erion Veliaj initiated against me fails.

Although January 13th was set by the court as the day we would begin the trial at 09:30 and conclude it when all the evidence was finished, along with an IT expert who would take care of the transmission of the evidence in the courtroom, the Mayor of Tirana not only did not show up, but also ordered that his defense attorney not come to the hearing either.

It's unimaginable how the person who filed a lawsuit against me doesn't come forward to confront me, but evades justice!

Where is the morality here?! Leave morality aside, what about the law?!

I expressed before the court that the plan against me is to remain a hostage in the courts for at least two years, because that is the strategy. Even if this trial is closed, another one will be opened by Veliaj against me. I know what the problem is with the Mayor of Tirana who is in prison, but I cannot solve it.

The court scheduled the next hearing for January 26th, at 1:30 PM, and if the plaintiff does not appear, a lawyer has been assigned primarily to defend Veliaj against me.

Although this is a strategic lawsuit to keep me under pressure, I am committed to treating it seriously. /CNA
