Part of an abusive scheme at AZHBR/ Korça Court orders security measures

The Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Korça has imposed coercive personal security measures of "Suspension of the exercise of a public duty or function" and "Obligation to report to the judicial police" for 9 employees of the Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development (AZHBR), as part of an abusive scheme of office theft.

The investigative operation to uncover this scheme was finalized by the Korça Police, in cooperation with the Judicial District Prosecutor's Office.

The citizens involved are Andrea Miha, Julian Zgura, Entela Gjata, Ermal Ibri, Dritan Çela, Përparim Rustemi, Bruno Berberi, Endrit Ferati and Fatos Ibi.

According to information, during the investigation, it was documented that some of the inspectors of this agency are suspected of abusing their duties by falsifying data in the verification acts for farmers benefiting from the National Support Scheme. According to information, the employees did not conduct on-site checks on the actual condition of the animals, while they are suspected of corruptly receiving amounts ranging from 10 to 50 thousand lek (new) for each application, with the aim of unfairly qualifying farmers for subsidies.

According to current data, their criminal activity has caused considerable economic damage to the state budget. Investigations are ongoing to identify other persons involved and bring them to justice. /CNA
