The meeting of the SP Parliamentary Group concludes/ Rama's message to the

The meeting of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, where government ministers were also present, has ended, while Prime Minister Edi Rama left the meeting venue early.

It is reported that at the meeting, the Prime Minister asked MPs to be more present on social media and to highlight the work the government is doing with the relevant arguments.

The focus of discussions at the meeting, which lasted about five hours, were developments related to Zvërnec and the citizen protests that have been taking place for about 20 days in Tirana.

Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that the recent developments surrounding the Zvërnec project have turned into a broad public and online debate, becoming, according to him, a “cautionary tale” about how the digital and political space functions today. He stated that in the age of social media, a local event can quickly turn into a global clash.

According to him, this phenomenon does not bring more knowledge or understanding, but rather produces anger, polarized political and religious identities, as well as the rapid spread of lies in relation to facts and reasoning.

Rama described the situation as a "cautionary tale", not for his mandate or for the governing majority, but for democracy in the era of algorithms, underlining the need, according to him, for actors with governance responsibilities to better read and understand these dynamics.

In his speech, he also made fun of the opposition, saying that he was fooled into thinking that what Luli's tent could not do, the global tent of protest would do. /CNA
