Giro D'Italia first stage ends/ Race winner announced

The first stage of the "Giro d'Italia" in Albanian territory has ended with the victory of the Danish cyclist Mads Pedersen, part of the Lidl-Trek team. Pedersen managed to maintain the lead in the final kilometers of the route, leaving behind the Belgian Wout van Aert in second place, who attempted a late recovery, but without success.

The race started from the city of Durrës and ended in Tirana, with a total length of about 164 kilometers. The first part of the route included flat terrain in the initial segment of 65 kilometers, while the second part was characterized by significant climbs, first in Gracen, then in Surrel, where the slope reached up to 13%, seriously testing the physical preparation of the cyclists.

The stage was also marked by an incident near the finish. Jay Vine suffered a fall on one of the last bends of the race, ending up injured on the side of the road. Cyclists Mikel Landa and Geoffrey Bouchard were also involved in the same episode, and received immediate medical attention at the scene. No serious injuries were reported, but their participation in the upcoming stages will depend on their health.
