The calm in Theth does not last / Another clash between residents and police

The calm in Theth did not last long. After the arrival of the Director of Decision Implementation at IKMT in the area, the situation worsened again.

Fatmir Mete, director of decision implementation at IKMT, has stated that he will continue with the implementation of the law, where in total there are about 70 objects to be razed. Asked why this decision was made at the height of the tourist season, according to him, there are 4 seasons of the year.

" We will implement the law, we will demolish the objects that have a legal basis for demolition. There are about 70-80 objects. According to the law, we have been notifying for days, we have been promised that we will dismantle them. This is the third time we have come here. According to the law, the deadline to remove them ourselves is 5 days, but 15 days have passed since the notification. 70 objects are new constructions and a fire is being built here. Residents should be concerned about protecting this area. We are not saying that we are in the tourist season because there is tourism here in every season ," said Mete.

Bekim Koçeku is one of the residents whose 5 wooden houses are about to be demolished. With disabilities, he and his family members are crying for help.

" They're all wood and they want to ruin me. I'm in debt. I'd rather be run over and die too," said Koçek.

"I am Bekim Koçek's sister, who built 5 wooden houses. Bekim took out a loan, left his pension to build and help his family. Even if we die here, we will not leave this place because it is the land of our grandmother and grandfather. God has killed our brother, he is helpless and now the state is going to kill him too. Look at the family, the children are not able to stand up to this trauma," said Bekim Koçek's sister.

Residents say that time and again they have paid bribes to heads of institutions who have lied to them that no one will demolish their homes.

They are requesting an extension of the deadlines because some of these apartments are occupied by tourists. But the arrival of IKMT from the center has exacerbated the situation in Theth./ CNA
