Starting January 1, 2026, businesses will have to manage the waste they produce.
So, businesses will need to manage waste such as packaging, batteries, end-of-life vehicles, and waste electrical and electronic equipment.
Businesses are charged with financial responsibility to pay the costs of collecting and transporting waste generated by their products.
Producers also need to invest in collection infrastructure.
If the obligations are not met, there will be administrative measures for the relevant business.
The proposed fines according to the legal basis range from 200 thousand to 2 million lek.
These obligations must be fulfilled by Albania in order to join the European Union./ CNA
