The government has postponed by 3 years the deadline for the assessment of property files. The review is based on the requests of the Strasbourg Court, which requires a review of the value of the compensation and the review of 7,000 pending files.

7,000 files will be evaluated by the Property Handling Agency until December 31, 2024. The deadline for these files is being postponed, based on the request of the Strasbourg Court for the fulfillment of the owners' compensation.

The 2015 law is being reviewed again in the assembly and the compensation formula will be at the heart of the change.

The price of the former owner's land will be the cadastral item at the time of seizure by the communist regime, adding the index according to the interest rate of the Bank of Albania. So despite the fact that today the land is land, if it was agricultural at the time it was taken by the state, the assessment will be based on the previous status.

And for this ATP will multiply the square meters with the value of the price map for each area.

In any case, if the compensation was higher than what the entity currently benefits from, the state will give it the opportunity to receive 10 percent of the amount for the claimed area.
