Fishing is one of the most formalized sectors in the country, from which Albania exports about 130 million euros per year.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Roland Kristo, said that one of the problems faced by companies today is the lack of local employees, who are being replaced by foreign fishermen, mainly Egyptian and Turkish.

"In this period, one of the main problems is related to the lack of personnel. There is very little desire to work in sea fishing, there is a shortage of fishermen. A large number of fishermen, especially in Durrës and Vlora, have been replaced by foreign fishermen.

It starts with the simplest fishermen who are Egyptian, up to the most qualified who may be Egyptian, Turkish, Italian or French. Albanians do not prefer to deal with this type of activity", Kristo emphasized.

He underlined that the main products for export are aquaculture products, cod and sea bass./Euronews
