Within the Entrepreneurship Week, organized by the State Ministry for Entrepreneurship and Business Climate from November 13-19, Vodafone Albania in cooperation with the State Ministry for Youth and Children gathered at the event "Girls and Women in STEM", a meeting inspiring and warm, actors, partners and representatives from the world of technology, where the situation of girls and women in our country, which has been oriented for years towards the digitalization of every field of life, was discussed.

Vodafone Albania, as a leader in innovation and IoT, focuses on all young people, whom it is supporting with a 3-year strategic program that consists of training in hundreds of 9-year public schools. In this program, Vodafone pays special attention to girls, who seem very interested and talented in these two years of implementing the STEM program.

"We grew up with the models of men in technology, such as Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, etc., while today the most curvaceous name in the world in the field of technology is a girl, who is also Albanian, Mira Murati. And in Albania, at what point are we? Do we have the right ecosystem, conditions and support for girls and women in STEM to flourish?", said Jonida Lakuriqi, Director of the Legal Department, Public Policy and External Relations at Vodafone Albania, as well as chairperson of the Board of the Vodafone Albania Foundation. .

Present at this meeting, the Minister of State for Youth and Children, Bora Muzhaqi, spoke about Albania's willingness to embrace technology from an early age. "We are among the first in Europe and the region to introduce coding in the first grade. And at first everyone was skeptical, but the program seems to be working very well and its purpose is to teach children the concept of logical thinking and perception", said Muzhaqi.

At this meeting, in order to understand that girls and women not only succeed in STEM, but also excel, personalities from the field were also invited, such as Rudina Osmanaj, physicist, scientific researcher in Network Quantum Chromodynamics or Olta Mino, Manager of the Sector " Billing and Business Engagement" in Vodafone Albania. Meanwhile, journalist Mira Kazhani spoke about the transformations brought to the media by the galloping development of technology in recent years.
While more girls and women should be involved in STEM in Albania, those who are already part of this ecosystem have done and are doing fantastic things, from which the whole society benefits. And Vodafone Albania, as a leader in technology and innovation, will always be there to support Albania's digital agenda as well as STEM talents, including girls and women.
