On June 23, 2016 and around 22:10 in Ayia Napa, fugitive Alex Burrel and a hooded accomplice entered a restaurant and using pistols and submachine guns killed three people, reports CNA (a businessman, a police officer and his wife in the presence of two minor children) and seriously injured a second policeman and another person present at the scene.

Also, the fugitive's accomplice was shot and killed in the exchange of gunfire.

The fugitive, Aleks Burrell, left the scene in a car which was later found burnt.

Also at a preliminary stage the person in question conspired to commit other murders in Cyprus as part of the same criminal network that organized the murder in Ayia Napa.
