The Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, today hosted the Albanian Olympic Team, which represented Albania at the "Paris 2024" Olympic Games, bringing two Olympic medals for our country for the first time. Minister Manastirliu announced that, with the Decision of the Council of Ministers, there will be specific rewards for athletes who brought medals to Albania.

Minister Manastirliu highly appreciated the historic success of our two wrestlers, Chermen Valiev and Islam Dudaev, who managed to climb the bronze medal winners' podium at the Olympic Games "Paris 2024," an achievement that represents not only a personal success, but also a victory for all of Albania.

"You really made us proud! You have raised our national flag high and it is a historic event that we have already won two Olympic bronze medals. For this, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every victory, no matter how personal, is above all a team victory. I want to express my gratitude to the entire national team that represented Albania at the Olympic Games, but let me especially thank you, our two medalists. We experienced many emotions and we were all there with you, heart and mind. Thank you Chermen Valiev, thank you Islam Dudaev, for your achievements and for raising the flag of Albania," said Minister Manastirliu.

Minister Manastirliu also underlined the importance of continuous support for Albanian athletes and elite sports. She highlighted the policies and investments made by the government to improve sports infrastructure and create better conditions for the preparation of athletes. According to her, the successes of our athletes show that these efforts are bearing fruit and that Albanian sports will produce even more medals and champions in the future.

"The Albanian government is committed to supporting athletes in many ways, either in terms of their preparation or in terms of support in the sports infrastructure. This year, with the 2024 budget, we have made it possible to increase the budget for 8 federations to enable preparation for the Olympic Games. On the other hand, the fact that you come with medals, the rewards system also enables dedicated rewards according to the government's decision that is in force for awarding rewards to national medalists who will have specific support from the Albanian government through the rewards system and also for three their coaches. We have a reward system among the highest in the region for champion athletes who bring medals to the country", said the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu.

Athletes and coaches shared the experiences and emotions of representing Albania at the Olympic Games that took place in Paris. The minister thanked the Olympic Team for the excellent representation of Albania and for the extraordinary emotions they gave. She assured them that support for sports will continue to be a priority of the Albanian government, aiming for Albania to continue producing world-class athletes.
