The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, reacted after the Assembly of North Macedonia approved the French proposal.

Michel describes this decision as a decisive step, which paves the way for holding the intergovernmental conference next week.

Through a status on social networks, he declares that he welcomes the opening of negotiations with open arms.

"Today's vote in the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia paves the way for holding the intergovernmental conference with North Macedonia next week. A decisive step for North Macedonia and for the EU. Our future is shared and we welcome you with open arms", writes the President of the European Council.

Meanwhile, we remember that North Macedonia and Albania are moving in parallel for EU integration. It is expected that the membership negotiations will start at the same time for both countries./ BA – CNA.al
