The American Hospital of Albania was founded in December 2006 as the first private hospital in Albania. The American Hospital, established in 2006 as the first private hospital in the country, led the way in healthcare in the country while simultaneously laying the foundations of the leading private medical institution.

The American hospital originally created in cardiology, in the first year of operation gave immediate results, causing an 85% decrease in the number of cardiac patients leaving Albania. Following this success, the hospital group developed rapidly and now boasts 6 buildings and 31 departments, offering healthcare and treatments in a wide range of specialties.

The hospital, staffed by Albanian and international healthcare professionals, performed the country's first kidney transplant – one of a number of pioneering achievements that have credited the Group with modernizing the healthcare industry in Albania.
