Gjirokastër, heavy rains cause flooding/ Firefighters intervene in homes

The Gjirokastra Municipality Fire Service has been engaged throughout the day in managing the situation created by heavy rainfall, which has caused partial flooding in several areas of the city and administrative units.

Firefighters have intervened to remove water from various homes and businesses, helping 13 homes and 11 businesses so far. The Armed Forces and the State Police have also been engaged in the emergency operation, in cooperation with the Municipality structures.

The municipality's vehicles and equipment were used to absorb and divert water, open drainage channels and clean the affected areas. From the verifications carried out on the ground, no people were reported injured or in danger of life, while only material damage was found.

The Fire Service of the Municipality of Gjirokastra is on full alert, with active teams, continuing to monitor the situation and intervene in any case necessary to guarantee the safety of citizens and the normalization of the affected areas./ CNA
