Situation due to heavy rainfall/Xhakoli: Emergency in some areas

The Mayor of Pogradec, Ilir Xhakoli, has provided information on the situation created by the heavy rainfall that has affected the city and surrounding areas.

He announced that emergency teams have been on the ground since last night and continue to be active throughout the municipality to manage the situation.

"The two rivers in the area have caused the greatest damage, but the city river also has significant problems. All three rivers, just like the first time, have caused difficulties in Rëmenj, Vërdovo and the city," said Mayor Xhakoli.

He is located in Beragozhda, where part of the road has collapsed, to direct the works and open the road axis to help the residents.

"This is an emergency, but a more regular route will be established later. Since the weather is clearing, after 3-4 hours the situation will calm down, however, the forecasts are that the rains will resume in the afternoon and all vehicles are on standby," he added.

The Pogradec Municipality and emergency services are working intensively to clear roads, manage rivers, and secure affected areas, while residents are advised to exercise caution and avoid traveling in dangerous areas./ CNA
