The General Director of DPMZSH, Arben Cara, after inspecting the big fire that has engulfed "Dry Mountain" for 5 days and endangers the Prespa National Park, has told the media that the fire is still active but not of a very large size. big.

He said that about 80 operational forces have been activated by the Ministry of Health, the three municipalities of Korçë, Maliq, Pogradec, in the assistance of the Pustec municipality near the Pustec fire department.

"The situation continues with the hearth of the fire active for 5 days, even though we have intervened from the ground and the air, since the extent is with a very long perimeter, it remains active but not very large. What makes us continue is that we are dealing with an area of ??bushes, brambles, dry grass, which is impossible to manage with circumstantial means, and for this reason, yesterday we activated the "coogar" helicopter, which has been working for a long time and has able to close a fire with a fairly wide perimeter. We are waiting today according to the situation, after the operational forces arrive at the scene, where they will give us more detailed information so that we can start the helicopter again, and for to keep the situation under control. Today, in the early hours of the morning, we have activated about 80 operational forces from the Ministry of Health, the three municipalities of Korçë, Maliq, Pogradec, to the aid of the municipality of Pustec near the fire brigade of Pustec, operational forces from the army, the agency of protected areas, civil emergency forces who are currently going to the fire which requires at least a minimum time of three hours on foot. Cara further pointed out that if the wind favors us so that it is not active during the day, the flames can be interrupted.

"If the wind favors it, it is possible that the fire can penetrate into Prespa, which is also a protected area, but the leaders of the operational structures will make an assessment in order to activate the intervention from the air so that the fire does not penetrate the mountain of Prespa after it would create bigger problems for us in terms of its localization and management", he said. /CNA
