This morning, Albania was hit by two consecutive earthquakes.

Seismologist Rrapo Ormëni, in an interview with the media, stated that they are aftershocks of the June 24 earthquake.

"These are called aftershocks since June 24, because they have occurred in the same area. They would be problematic if the earthquakes were 4.4 or 4.5 magnitude," said Ormeni.

The seismologist stressed that the decrease in earthquakes is not related to the season or high temperatures. He said that the Adriatic area is quite active for earthquakes.

"Fushë-Kruja is included in the seismic zone in our country. The Adriatic is an area that releases successive earthquakes. The Lushnje-Elbasan and Korçë-Peshkopi areas are also quite active in terms of seismological activity," said the seismologist.

Ormeni concluded by emphasizing that the strikes could continue for days or weeks./ CNA
