The Supreme Court has overturned the decision of the Special Appeal for former prosecutor Aurel Zarka, involved in the file known as "Toyota Yaris", returning the case for reconsideration to the Special Appeal with a different panel of judges.

The previous decision of the Special Appeals Court overturned the position of SPAK, which sought to reclassify the criminal offense against Zarka as part of a structured criminal group. This interpretation was not accepted by the Appeals Court, but has now been questioned by the Supreme Court.

The appeal to the Supreme Court was filed by both SPAK and Aurel Zarka himself, making the decision subject to review in both directions.

With this decision, the Supreme Court did not issue a final verdict on guilt or criminal qualification, but assessed that the case should be re-examined by another panel of the Special Appeals.

The "Toyota Yaris" file is related to the seizure of an amount of approximately 3.4 million euros, found hidden in a vehicle traveling from Belgium to Albania, one of the most sensational cases in recent years for suspicions of corruption and involvement of justice officials./ CNA
