As the summer season has entered its peak with the months of July and August having the highest influx of vacationers on the coast, there are at least 127 entities along the entire coastline from Shkodra to Saranda that have won the right to beach resorts.
These are entities that primarily offer accommodation and since the applications they have made in the system have gained the right to use the beach. Recently, the permits issued for the use of beaches issued by the National Territorial Council were also revealed, where in addition to the municipalities that have a coastline, Pogradec is also included in the list for the use made of the shore of Lake Ohrid.
Last year, due to problems with the density of sunbeds and the prices applied in some regions, government representatives promised that the situation would change with applications for beach use during the summer of 2025.
In fact, this year there is a greater presence of public beaches, while in sandy areas with wide shores, entities are required to leave 7-8 meters of space from the shoreline, while in those further south, 2.5-3 meters that can be used by the public.
Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro, during inspections conducted in recent weeks in coastal municipalities, stated that the difference in favor of public beaches is expected to be even greater next year. According to her, this will come as a result of the termination of 5-year contracts with several entities that were signed in 2021 and are still ongoing.
Several municipalities have solved this year the management of single beaches by creating enterprises such as Lezha, while Shkodra has also followed its own model. Unlike other years, the prices of sunbeds have not yet become a "viral" part of the comments on social networks, with the exception of Ksamil, where foreigners are again expressing surprise at the prices of 20-30 euros for two sunbeds and an umbrella.
Generally, on the coast of Durrës and Vlora, the prices of sunbeds on weekends have been on average 1000 lek with a decrease during the week (mainly during June). In the northern part of the coast, prices have appeared even more economical with an average of 500 lek to 1000 lek./ Monitor Magazine
