Audit of protected areas/ Head of the Albanian Supreme Audit Institution: Lack

The Head of the Supreme State Audit Office, Arben Shehu, raised a concern today regarding the audit of protected areas.

While responding to the interest of members of the Economy Committee, Shehu said that currently there is no institutional access or coordination with the State Cadastre Agency.

According to Shehu, it remains important to register both state and private properties, to enable the subsequent auditing of these areas.

"Regarding protected areas and coordination with the Albanian Forestry Agency, we do not have any access, let alone discuss inter-institutional relations. There is essential and urgent importance regarding the registration of state property, which when unregistered is at a very high risk level, but also citizens' properties. We need access and information on what is done with private properties. We are ready to carry out these processes in a timely manner and we have the capacity to conduct audits in a timely manner, along with other measures based on the legal time frame", - Shehu emphasized. /CNA
