The appeal of the GJKKO leaves in force the decision on the innocence of former

The Special Court's appeal has upheld the First Instance decision that declared former judge Shkëlzen Selimi innocent. Today's decision was made by a panel of judges composed of judges Engert Pëllumbi, Igerta Hysi and Dhimitër Lara.

On July 7th of last year, the GJKKO ruled in favor of the not guilty plea on the charge of concealing assets, while this decision was appealed by SPAK.

The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a panel composed of judges Engert Pëllumbi (presiding), Igerta Hysi (member) and Dhimitër Lara (member), today on 28.04.2026, announced the decision on criminal case no. 12/77 act, date 24.12.2025 registration, on the appeal of the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime, against decision no. 48, date 07.07.2025 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime that declared the defendant Sh.S. innocent and decided:

Leaving into force decision no. 48, dated 07.07.2025 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime.

The court costs for the appeal trial remain as incurred. It was announced in Tirana, on 28.04.2026.

We recall that in November 2025, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruled that the dismissal of former Supreme Court judge Shkëlzen Selimi from the vetting process was unfair. /CNA
