The US Embassy in Tirana has shared important information regarding visas.
Through a post on social media, the Embassy announces that starting September 2, 2025, only B1/B2 visas that are still valid OR that have expired for less than 12 months can be renewed by mail, while an interview is required for other types.
"Starting September 2, 2025, only B1/B2 visas that are still valid OR have less than 12 months left to expire may be renewed by mail. For all other visa types, except for certain government travel cases, an interview will be required."
"We encourage visa applicants to check the embassy website al.usembassy.gov and travel.state.gov for more detailed information on visa application requirements and procedures, as well as to be informed about the status of the embassy's operations and services," the announcement said. /CNA
