Lyon will play in Ligue 1 next season after their appeal against their relegation was upheld.

The club managed to repay part of its debt, which exceeded 500 million euros, to meet the financial criteria set. According to the authorities' request, Lyon had to repay at least 40% of its debt to continue participating in the French top flight.

Lyon will also participate in the Europa League, thanks to their position in last season's competition. However, the club risks being excluded from European competition due to their joint ownership with Crystal Palace. Both clubs are owned by John Textor, which violates UEFA rules on the participation of clubs with the same owner.

A final decision from UEFA is expected in the coming weeks. If there are no changes to the ownership structure, one of the teams could be expelled.
